One of the highlights of our 2023/2024 cadet year was our epic year-end group activity: paintball competitions at Adrenaline Paintball in Melbourne, ON. It was an action-packed day filled with teamwork, strategy, and a whole lot of fun! Every single cadet showed up ready to give it their all. We split into teams and faced off in a series of paintball matches, navigating through various courses and obstacles. The adrenaline was pumping, and the competitive spirit was high! By the end of the day, we were all covered in paint and dirt, but the smiles on everyone's faces were priceless. It was an unforgettable experience that brought us even closer as a team. A big shoutout to Adrenaline Paintball for hosting us and providing such an amazing venue for our event. Their setup was perfect for our competitions, and their staff was fantastic! Paintball shooting was not just about having fun; it also taught us valuable lessons in communication, leadership, and cooperation. These are the same skills we learn and practice in Cadets, and it was awesome to see them in action in such a thrilling environment. We can't wait for more adventures like this in the upcoming training year. Until then, we're cherishing the memories and looking forward to what comes next! Stay tuned for more updates and stories from our "Things I Did in Cadets" series.

Celebrating Canada Day with Pride in Glencoe
This year's Canada Day festivities in Glencoe, Southwest Middlesex, were a true celebration of community spirit and national pride. Our Canadian Army Cadet Corps played a significant role in the event, showcasing their dedication and patriotism through their participation in the flag-raising ceremony. Flag-Raising Ceremony The highlight of the day was the flag-raising ceremony, where our cadets demonstrated their commitment to honoring Canada. Master Corporal Counter (MCpl) and Corporal Evans (Cpl) had the honor of raising the Canadian flag. Their precision and respect during the ceremony were a testament to the values instilled in them through their cadet training. O Canada Performance Adding to the day's patriotic atmosphere, Staff Sergeant Major Warrant Officer (SSM WO) Wellington delivered a heartfelt rendition of "O Canada." The performance was met with applause and admiration, reinforcing the sense of unity and pride among the attendees. Community Involvement Our cadets' involvement in the Canada Day celebrations extends beyond their roles in the ceremony. They exemplify community pride and leadership, embodying the core values of the Cadet program. Their participation in events like these not only enhances their personal growth but also strengthens the bond within our community. Why Cadets Matter The Canadian Army Cadet program is more than just uniforms and drills; it's about building future leaders and responsible citizens. Our cadets learn valuable skills such as teamwork, discipline, and public service. Events like the Canada Day celebration in Glencoe provide them with opportunities to put these skills into practice while making a positive impact on the community. Join Us We are always looking for young individuals aged 12-18 to join our ranks and experience the benefits of the Cadet program. Their involvement highlights the importance of community pride and the role of youth in shaping a bright future for Canada. We are incredibly proud of our cadets and look forward to their continued success in future events. Happy Canada Day! CHIMO CTCs offers cadets a more in-depth study and experience in the area in which they are selected to participate. Summer camps, as cadets fondly call them, are located on the Pacific and Atlantic coasts, the Rocky Mountains and everywhere in between. Some CTCs involve all three elements (Sea, Army and Air Cadets) learning and working together in one location. It is the chance to meet friends for life during an experience they will never forget!
Cadets are not guaranteed a spot on a summer training course, and cadets are selected to attend summer training based on their attendance, behaviour, and other attributes that they’ve demonstrated throughout the cadet training year. For many cadets, participating in summer training is the highlight of their year. The many diverse training opportunities offered during the summer months, including the Cadet Training Centre (CTC) Courses, the Technology and Digital Learning Centre (TDLC), and the National Cadet Advisory Council (NCAC) are the perfect occasion to make friends for life during experiences youth will never forget. If you have any questions or want to review additional information, please contact us or visit the Cadets Canada Summer Training 2024 Website Page. Our 2884 Cadets Marksmanship Team showcased their skills and spirit at the annual zone marksmanship competition on February 25th. Comprising Master Warrant DeWaele, Sergeant Wellington, Corporal Roberts, Corporal Simpson, and Corporal Haskell, our team took on the challenge with determination and pride! Armed with Daisy air rifles, our cadets aimed for four targets, scoring points for both prone and standing positions. The ultimate goal for each cadet was to reach a total score close to 400 points, a task that demanded precision and focus. Notably, three of our cadets experienced their first taste of competitive marksmanship, demonstrating courage and commitment in the face of challenge. Though accolades eluded us this time, the true victory lies in the resilience and sportsmanship our cadets displayed. Utilizing the Daisy 853C air rifle equipped with iron sights, they honed their skills and embraced the spirit of competition. Regardless of the outcome, the camaraderie and dedication of our cadets shine brightly. Their efforts exemplify the values of teamwork, perseverance, and excellence that define our 2884 family. Congratulations to these remarkable cadets for their outstanding performance and unwavering commitment. As they continue their marksmanship journey, we stand behind them, inspired by their determination and tenacity. CHIMO!
